The soft touch of your bedding is a matter of fibers and weaving. There are several fabrics to choose from when it comes to bed linens, with cotton being the most popular option.
Cotton is known for its comfort, softness and lightness. This natural material is ideal in any season.
The percale cotton weave is fine, very tight (minimum 70 g / cm ²). It is softer and nobler than cotton. Very nice, it gives a sensation of coolness in summer. The cotton sateen is particularly soft and bright, and at the same time it is shiny and silky. It absorbs body heat and is good for keeping you warm during winter nights.
The damask cotton is a jacquard patterned fabric, which you can find either tone on tone or multicolored. This weaving is interesting for its decorative aspect as the patterns are well and sometimes they present an embossed effect. Jersey cotton is mostly used in fitted sheets because of its elasticity. In addition it is particularly cozy and comfortable and does not require any ironing.
Linen is lightweight and virtually indestructible; moreover, pure linen is cool to the touch and pleasant summer. Naturally endowed with thermoregulatory, properties linen absorbs moisture and allows water or perspiration to evaporate quickly. Linen is perfect for sensitive skin because of its hypoallergenic and antistatic properties.
Synthetic fibers resist wear and pilling and generally they are very inexpensive. However, they offer less comfort than cotton bedding. Among the synthetic fibers, a good idea is to choose polyester fabrics with a mix of cotton. This is cheaper than the 100% cotton, and by combining the qualities of these two materials, one obtains sheets that are reasonably comfortable, absorbent, and durable. The downside is that over time, the cotton fibers wear out and there remains only the polyester fiber.
