There’s a lot to love about Surya rugs!  For more than three decades, the very name Surya has become synonymous with luxury, innovation and top quality.  The designers at Surya consistently produce some of the most versatile and cutting edge pieces on the market – rugs that are a blend of perfection in texture, pattern, and color, and that are evidence of Surya’s understanding of the trendiest concepts in interior design.  Surya was named for Surya Tiwari, a villager from Ugapur, India, who worked as a local contractor and teacher who had a passion for beautiful rugs and saw an opportunity in selling those rugs to Macy’s Inc., known at the time (back in 1976) as the Federated Group.  Working at first out of a wedding tent and buying products from local Indian crafters, Surya would go on to grow a business that would become vast and profitable.  Surya’s company became one of a handful of Indian based corporation operating abroad (there were fewer than ten at the time), and established his office in the U.S. in 1986.  From there the company was able to grow exponentially, and went on to become the success it is today.  Currently Surya rugs offer more than 5,000 different products and exhibit their rugs all over the world.  From humble beginnings came one of the world’s premiere distributors of beautiful area rugs and other rugs.
