French fries are an all-time favorite for the entire family. In order to cook them to perfection, you will need a deep fryer. There are several criteria that need to be considered when choosing a deep fryer for your kitchen.
The Capacity of the Fryer
This should be the primary criterion, as a too small deep fryer will become overloaded and will not be able to cook all sizes of fries. The capacity of a deep fryer is expressed in grams of fries, varying between 1 and 2 lbs. The capacity and materials used contribute to the total weight of the machine, which can be anywhere between 4 to 12 lbs.
The Security Level of the Fryer
Do not forget that a deep fryer is designed to contain hot oil. While it is obvious that you should not more a hot deep fryer, you need to choose a machine that is very stable and sufficiently insulated.
Other Selection Criteria
The cold zone prevents harmful particles from being deposited on fries. This is a very effective function and it should be a significant criterion when choosing a deep fryer.
The power of the fryer should be around 2000 Watts (as much as an electric heater), because a lower level of power will require you to wait too long for the oil to heat.
The tank should ideally be from stainless steel or non-stick material, both being easy to clean either by hand or in the dishwasher. Some high-end deep fryers models feature glass tanks.
Some deep fryer models are equipped with multifunction handles that allow you to shake the basket without opening the lid, in order to make sure all the fries are cooked evenly. Make sure the deep fryer features options for cleaning the permanent filter.
