Popcorn Makers

Salty, sweet or caramel-coated, popcorn is the essential ingredient of a film night, a football game or even for parties with friends. Forget about the stove and microwave, as nowadays there are several types of popcorn makers that can get your fresh popcorn ready in a couple of minutes.

Popcorn Maker Guide

A popcorn maker is a machine used to make popcorn. Industrial versions are usually found in movie theatres and fairs, producing popcorn with oil, and containing approximately 45% of calories in the final product from fat. The hot air popcorn household appeared in the late 1970's, producing popcorn with only 5% of calories from fat.

There are two types of popcorn makers available on the market, air popcorn machines and oil popcorn machines. The air popcorn makers work by producing heat in an enclosed container. As there is no need for oil, the popcorn made with these makers is a healthy snack. However, because of the lack of oil, the taste may be slightly drier than movie theatre popcorn. A more traditional method of making popcorn at home is by using an oil popcorn maker. This machine makes popcorn by heating oil on a stove or a hot plate. While popcorn made this way is delicious, it features a very high cholesterol content.
