Choosing the Right Type of  Lighting 

Choose the amount of lighting for your room based on the amount of natural light that comes into the space each day as well as the size of the room.  For example, if you are choosing lighting for the kitchen that is flooded with natural light, you would likely need just overhead lighting for the main room and possible some task lighting for work areas, like the kitchen island, where you  may need to do more focused work.  In other areas of the home, you may need to add more lighting because there are poor natural light sources or even no natural light source at all.  An example would be a hallway or corridor in the home where you have no natural light coming from windows.  Overhead lighting is a must in this type of hallway, but wall sconce lighting is a great way to supplement the overhead lights to add a well-lit look to the hallway that keeps it from taking on an ambience of dreariness or foreboding.

Interior lighting has an important effect on the aesthetics and functional elements of any room. When chosen properly, ceiling lighting gives an artistic and sculptural tone - depending on the style and finish of the fixtures you choose.

Lights suspended from the ceiling provide a global illumination to the area. This may be achieved with a simple ceiling lamp or a very ornate chandelier.

You can enhance the look of your bedroom, your bathroom and your hall, and even your kitchen with a beautiful chandelier that will enlighten and dazzle your home. Typically, the diameter of a chandelier should be chosen according to the size of your room. If your ceiling is high or if you have a two-story foyer, you may need to add some inches to the diameter recommended.
