They are available in so many different types that it is hard to choose the perfect one for the garden. Beside concrete and potter, there are outdoor statues that are made of stone, bronze and cement. Statues come in various sizes and designs, making the choice even more difficult.

Outdoor statues for gardens

The art of placing statues in the garden can be considered part of the landscape design. So if you are not sure how to do it, it would be a good idea to speak with a professional. Here are some tips for you to get the best outdoor statues and to place them in the right position.

You must know from the beginning what the theme of the garden will be. For instance, look after a Buddha statue if your garden has an Asian theme. Alternatively, if you choose to go with a very popular theme today, the French style, look for a Greek or Roman copy of a classic statue.

Try not to fit too many statues in the garden. There are some gardens that will need more statues, like those that are made especially for children. But as a rule of thumb, gardens need just a couple of statues, no more than three or four. With too many outdoor statues, the effect will be negative on the design.   

You should decide the statue's purpose. If you have in mind to make it the central point, you should choose a large statue for a visual impact. But then again, if you need it as complimentary piece, you can try some of the medium size statues.  Try to place the statues in the visible parts of the garden, not hidden by trees and if you choose a religious theme, put it in a visible landscape.
